Making Waves at Annual SurFUR ComPETition
The sun was shining and the waves were calling as a unique and heartwarming event took over Waikiki Beach in August. The 10th annual Raising Cane's Going to the Dogs SurFUR Competition, a key part of the Duke Kahanamoku OceanFest, brought together a community of pet lovers and their adventurous companions for a day of incredible surfing. But behind the scenes, our dedicated team at Aloha Affordable Veterinary Services (AAVS) ensured the safety and well-being of every participant.

As the official veterinary team for this special anniversary event, we had the honor of caring for an eclectic group of surFURs. It wasn't just dogs riding the waves—the competition featured a variety of animals, including cats, pigs, and even a duck, all ready to make a splash! Dr. Alyssa Ungemach and assistants Liz, Gia, and Monica worked diligently to ensure that every furry, feathery, and hoofed participant was in peak condition for the competition.
The SurFUR ComPETition is more than just a contest; it's a testament to the special bond between people and their pets. We were so proud to have our expertise and kindness on full display, supporting an event that celebrates the unique joy animals bring to our lives. Our presence offered peace of mind to pet parents and organizers alike, highlighting our commitment to professional and compassionate veterinary care, both in our clinic and in the community.
